   4000W@4.5K Helium Refrigerator Performance Test Review Meeting

On September 28, the high energy density test platform 4000W@4.5K helium refrigerator provided by Fullcryo for the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Advanced Energy Science and Technology/Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully passed the performance test and expert review at the isotope laboratory project site. The 4000W@4.5K helium refrigerator system has been running stably for more than 85 hours, and all performance indicators have met the requirements of the technical agreement. The cooling capacity in three different temperature ranges has exceeded the design indicators, among which the cooling capacity of 50K-75K is greater than 12900W, the cooling capacity of 5K-75K is greater than 3165W, and the cooling capacity of 4.5K is greater than 2350W. It can meet the cooling capacity requirements of multiple temperature zones such as current leads, cold shields, couplers and superconducting cavities in the isotope laboratory project, and provide important support for the low temperature system of the isotope laboratory.

 

During the meeting, the experts and user representatives listened to the project team's report, witnessed the operation of the 4.5K helium refrigerator on site, and reviewed the performance test results. They fully understood and questioned the project completion status. They finally believed that the adiabatic efficiency of the 4 helium compressors and 7 turbo expanders in the 4000W@4.5K helium refrigerator system exceeded the design efficiency, and the highest adiabatic efficiency of the helium compressor reached 87.8%; the highest adiabatic efficiency of the helium turbo expander reached 84%; this refrigerator is the first helium refrigerator without liquid nitrogen precooling, and the cooling capacity of all temperature zones is provided by the helium turbo expander. The unit cooling power consumption (COP-1) of the refrigerator is 330W/W, reaching the performance level of the international 4.5K helium refrigerator with the same cooling capacity. The expert group unanimously agreed that the high energy density platform 4.5K helium refrigerator passed the performance test assessment.

Fullcryo 4000W@4.5K Helium Refrigerator

Large helium refrigerator is one of the key equipment of low-temperature superconducting system. 4000W@4.5K helium refrigerator system includes helium compressor, oil removal system, cold box, liquid helium dewar, coaxial infusion tube, helium purity analyzer, external purifier, control system, etc. This device is a domestic complete set of equipment independently developed and independently researched and integrated by Fullcryo. It adopts independent and controllable process optimization and control technology, high-speed gas bearing turbine expander technology, and integrated control technology of complex cryogenic system to ensure that the product has multiple working modes, large cooling capacity, strong reliability and intelligent operation, etc., to meet the refrigeration needs of low-temperature superconducting system.

 

Based on decades of technical accumulation of two generations of academician teams from the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the results of two phases of national major scientific research equipment development projects, Fullcryo has successfully developed a series of domestic large-scale helium refrigerators/liquefiers, which fully cover the demand for hundreds of kilowatts of cooling capacity in the 20K-2K temperature range. After years of development, Zhongke Fuhai has successfully delivered and operated more than ten sets of large-scale cryogenic refrigerators and liquefaction devices, completely breaking the long-term international monopoly and technical blockade of large-scale cryogenic technology and equipment, filling the gaps in related fields in China, solving the "bottleneck" problem of national large-scale cryogenic engineering equipment, and providing important strategic support for the basic construction of my country's large scientific projects. The 4000W helium refrigerator product successfully passed the expert group review, indicating that Fullcryo has realized the development of a series of kilowatt-class helium refrigerators/liquefaction devices, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent development of helium refrigeration systems with a cooling capacity of tens of thousands of watts.
